BE A NANAIMO GLOBAL FILM FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER:
Volunteers are essential for the smooth operation of the Nanaimo Global Film Festival (NGFF). Each year, NGFF depends on the skills of a committed group of volunteers to fill positions on the days of the festival.This year we are looking for people who can be ushers and "techies" for shifts on Friday, Oct 14th and Sat Oct 15, 2011
- The Shifts Are As Follows:
- Friday, Oct 14th
- 2:00 to 7:00
- 6:00 to 11:00
- Saturday, Oct 15th
- 8:30 to 1:30
- 1:00 to 6:00
- 5:30 to 11:00
Volunteer Job Descriptions
- Ticket Taker/Usher
Must be friendly and helpful, and be able to think quickly and organize people. Duties include: Greet guests as they arrive and leave the theatre; check for appropriate tickets; control lighting at start and end of film; guide guests to available seats within theatre (including when lights are off); open theatre doors to allow for fresh air; and have general knowledge of festival in order to answer questions.
- Audio /Visual Techie
Must be friendly and helpful, and be capable of operating audio/video equipment. Duties include: Pick up films (DVDs) from festival office; confirm operation and volume level of DVD before audience arrives; start the film on time; monitor the operation of the DVD and equipment during the presentation of the film; return films to festival office; and have general knowledge of the film festival in order to answer questions.
